FOUR Army Cadets from Cinderford Platoon have taken part in a three-week trek in Nepal and the surrounding Himalayan region.

As a result the copy of the Review they took with them made it up to Annapurna Base Camp,

Jack Davies, Dale Williams, Fran Cross and Sarah Lloyd went on to trek to a mountain village where they spent three days and presented a cheque for £11,000 (1.4 million Nepalese Rupees) to the local school and schoolchildren.

The money was partly raised by the cadets selling raffle tickets, bag packing and also through other donations.

"It was a fantastic experience and we have all returned with so many memories and experiences that we'll never forget," said Jack Davies.

"The trip taught us so much. We thoroughly recommend if you get the chance at any experience like this, just go for it – it's worth it!"

Cinderford Platoon parades every Wednesday night from 7pm at The Cadet Centre on Valley Road – new members very welcome.
