THE Co-op in Cinderford was raided overnight by hooded burglars who used a disc cutter to smash their way in and steal cigarettes.

The raid, captured on CCTV, took place at the Dockham Road store at around 3.15am on Tuesday.

Two men, one wearing a hooded camouflage jacket and a pair of distinctive red trainers and one wearing a navy blue hooded top and a pair of white trainers, used a disc cutter to shatter the window. They then climbed into the store and filled a yellow canvas bag with cigarettes from behind a counter.

They climbed out the same way they came in before making off towards the back of the nearby health centre just after 3.20am.

Despite a police search with dogs the raiders could not be tracked down.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or recognises the figures captured on CCTV is being urged to call 101, quoting incident 19 of January 29.
