The Labour group in Chepstow seems to have taken possession of the rather hopeless campaign to re-open the Minor Injuries Unit at Chepstow Hospital.

It doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone that the numbers of people needing the Minor Injuries Unit has been vastly reduced over the past 10 years as a direct result of increasingly tough health and safety regulations. This in turn has resulted in a greater awareness of safety issues and greater consciousness of instances of personal risk in the general population.

It should also be obvious that injuries to children are far fewer since their preferred free time occupation seems to involve computers and i-Phones, rather than tree-climbing.

You cannot justify the expense of maintaining a Minor Injuries Unit for just four patients per day.
