Members of the Lydney and Tidenham branch of the Forest of Dean Labour Party held a street stall in Lydney on Saturday (August 18) to campaign for the continued existence of health provision in Lydney and Cinderford and plan to attend a demonstration this Thursday to make their case (August 30).

Steve Stockham, spokesperson for the branch, said: “We want provision to continue at the existing hospital sites at Lydney and the Dilke, regardless of where any new hospital is going to be located. With a growing and aging population, we need an increase in health facilities in the Forest and Severnside, not more cuts.”

Members of all branches of the Labour Party will be attending the Hands Off Lydney and Dilke Hospitals ‘Silent Majority’ demonstration on Thursday from 1:30pm outside the Forest Hills Golf Club in Coleford.

“This is where the NHS boards will decide on the location of ‘a new hospital’ and where you can show your dissatisfaction with the consultation process if you don’t feel your opinion has been listened to,” Steve added.
