THE theft of a Landrover was dramatically captured on CCTV, at the same time that a police helicopter was searching nearby fields in a ‘concern for welfare’ operation.

More than 47,000 people have already viewed footage of the theft posted by the vehicle owner, which shows an apparently barefooted figure staggering across a farmyard from a garden in Two Bridges near Blakeney last Thursday.

About 20 seconds after entering the garage, the Landrover is driven out and makes off down the track with the driver’s door swinging open.

West Mercia Police found it on Friday, 40 miles away in Evesham.

Around the time of its theft at 11am on Thursday, and a few hundred yards away, the Gloucestershire Police helicopter started searching fields overlooking Two Bridges.

Three police cars and an ambulance also arrived at theValley View holiday park on the A48 a mile east of Blakeney, in what a force spokesperson would only say was a ‘concern for welfare’ incident.

Police have not indicated whether the incidents may be linked, but said they were not informed of the Landrover theft until after 5.30pm.

After the police helicopter left, a drone continued to fly over fields at the back of the holiday park.

The footage of the Landrover theft shows a figure apparently walking barefoot with shoes tied to their waist, their shirt out and long hair.

Owner Karla Robins, who posted news of the theft on Facebook, said: “If anyone has seen our blue Land Rover after 11.01 this morning with a yellow back door on the A48 at Two Bridges, it was stolen; let us know or the police, incident number 32819 reg number F940 JNU.”

Later she posted CCTV footage, saying: “This is the Landy being stolen, looks like he doesn’t have shoes on the way he moves up the yard.”

She later added: “He walked up through the garden from the fields, think it may be related to the person the police were looking for today.”

She posted on Saturday: “Landy is currently with police. Thanks all X.”
