CAN you remember seeing the Coronation 60 years ago? I can, sitting cross-legged on the floor of the Junior School in Naas Lane, Lydney, peering at a small black and white television screen, in the large hall that, when divided, were the classrooms of Miss Harris and Mr Evans.
I'm sure that there are many people with memories of the occasion and even some photographs of various events that went on at the time.
Would you like to celebrate again at a Diamond Jubilee Party, at the 'Old School' with maybe a display of photos and memories?
Perhaps a coffee morning with a film about the celebrations in 1953, or a street party in the playground, with fancy dress in the 1950s mode, and a parade, of course. We could finish the day with a dance and supper, to the music of the 1950s.
I have organised several street parties, before and have a recording of a celebration for the wedding of Charles and Diana.
To do this needs the help of a small band of enthusiastic helpers, some legwork, and the support of you. And we need to start now!
If you would like to help or would like to attend a celebration please contact me at the Community Centre. I look forward to hearing from you.
