GLORIOUS Gloucestershire was celebrated in flowers and artwork at a festival at Flaxley.
Regular flower arrangers were joined by children of Newnham St Peter’s and Westbury Church of England primary schools, villagers and artists to give their interpretation of Gloucestershire life.
The displays celebrated many aspects of the county from the Severn Bore to food and drink, cheese rolling and amateur dramatics.
There was also a display by the Forest of Dean Beekeepers about the role and importance of pollinators.
The festival was organised by the Friends of Flaxley Church which aims to raise money for the maintenance, repair and restoration of the building and includes both worshippers and non-churchgoers.
Rev Steve Taylor, the priest-in-charge at Flaxley, said: “There have been festivals in the past but this is a new venture by the Friends of Flaxley Church.
“The displays are very creative.”
Organiser Darna Chambers said: “The Friends of Flaxley Church aim to help with the fabric of the church.
“We have helped pay for the first stage of the replacement of the roof and some small repairs in the church.
“Anyone can be a Friend of the church, they do not have to be churchgoers.”
