LYDNEY fishing duo Paul Waddington and Mark Morgan took on some of the finest fishermen in Britain in the Embassy Challenge.
The two, recently featured in the Review, were among 40 pairs to win through to the all expenses paid final fished over two days at South Jutland, Denmark. Four thousand anglers had entered the competition.
They experienced extremes of weather – a splendid first day and a second day when the five hour match was fished in torrential rain.
Paul enjoyed the best of the fishing with a sixth and seventh place in his section. Mark had a 17th and 20th place and their joint scores enabled them to finish in 30th place overall.
The match was won by Milton Keynes pair Phil Bardell and Roy Hefferon who hit a shoal of bream and roach and were rewarded with a runaway victory and a top prize of £8,000.
