A GOLD medal awarded to a Lydney soldier who survived the First World War has been sold for £200.
Around 500 of the "Lydney Welcome Home" were made following a public appeal in the town in 1918.
The nine carat gold medal, which was awarded to A Sterry and shows Britannia shaking hands with a soldier, was sold by a Surrey-based dealer on an internet auction site last Friday.
The medals were made in Gloucester and were presented to the men by Lord Bledisloe.
