An online beauty pageant organised by a Lydney teenager has attracted more than 4,000 fans.

Jessica Caldwell, 18, set up the Miss Diamond Glitz pageant on Facebook just before Christmas.

Entrants have come from all over Britain and as far away as the United States and Asia.

The second-year Gloucestershire College student: "I've been really pleased by how successful it's been but it is a bit strange having people on the other side of the world talking about something you've set up."

The first winner of the special "director's choice" sash was Charlotte Smith, who also comes from Lydney.

Jessica explained: "Girls up to the age of 25 send in a photo of themselves for one of four age categories.

"One winner from each group will win a sash each month and there is also a director's choice award and that is a girl chosen by me as director.

"Charlotte, this month's director's choice is from Lydney but she's not a close friend."
