SEVERN Area Rescue Association (SARA) volunteers assisted at the weekend, in the police hunt along the River Severn for missing Gloucester man Curtis Hastings.
Gloucestershire Police issued an appeal for Mr Hastings on Friday, believing he could be in one of the Severnside villages. He was eventually found in Newnham.
A SARA spokesperson said: “The land search team from Beachley was out all weekend helping police officers searching for a man reported missing.
“We were called out on Friday lunchtime, and initially deployed in the Epney area south of Gloucester. During the course of Saturday and Sunday a number of different areas were searched, on both sides of the River Severn. All of the SARA stations were involved, including boats from SARA Sharpness, along with the coastguard and both the police and coastguard helicopters.
“Curtis Hastings was eventually found on Sunday afternoon close to Newnham, treated by SARA medics and handed over to the ambulance service.”
SARA is entirely manned by volunteers who are always on standby. To donate www.justgiving.com/ sara-rescue/donate.
