•With the emphasis of late on old photographs featuring

the village of Alvington older people may well remember

one or both of these facilities. The top picture shows a

village shop – 'Workman, Draper and Grocer'. This was at

the top of the village, opposite The Globe Inn. The bottom

photograph shows some long vanished petrol pumps

which once operated further down the main road. If you
