NEWNHAM'S annual show has enhanced its reputation as a family friendly fun day following the huge success of the latest event held in the Armoury Hall.
"We don't take it too seriously," admitted Armoury Hall chairman Kevin O'Hara.
"It's an event for everyone. We want entries from across the board. Essentially its a small village show and its all about having a bit of fun. There were some winners who did not even bother to collect their prizes but gave them straight back to the hall committee," he said.
With sections for vegetable growers, flower gardeners and all sort of art and crafts, there was once again a big entry.
"We had worried about the weather but the entries in the arts and crafts sections and from children were up on last year," said Kevin.
Saturday's show was the 32nd, the event having been kicked off by Vic and Maureen Townley, who now live in France, and the late Barbara Allsopp, long-serving chairman of the parish council.
