THERE should be a chance for more nominations for the forthcoming county council elections, moved from May to June 7 because of foot and mouth restrictions.

While candidates for the main parties grit their teeth and prepare for a prolonged electioneering session, the way is being opened for more challenges up to May 16.

Gloucestershire County Council nominations in the Forest area that had been closed for the May 3 poll before legislation was moved to change the date to June 7 are:

WEST DEAN DIVISION: Paul John Hiett (Lab); Isobel Phipps Coltman (Con); David Andrew John Wheeler (Lib Dem).

COLEFORD DIVISION: Gwyneth Lesley Bradley (Con); Peter Warwick Chamberlain (Lab); Ann Vera Margaret Smallwood (Lib Dem).

CINDERFORD DIVISION: Stephen Robin McMillan (Con); Graham Leslie Morgan (Lab); Lynda Ann Searancke (Lib Dem).

BROOKSDEAN DIVISION: Roland Douglas Butler (Lab); Andrew Edward Gardiner (Ind); Margaret Mary Harper (Con).
