STRONG man Nathan Fisher, the Forest's superstar special power-lifter, has been selected as one of the Olympic torch bearers.
The 28 year-old winner of a host of top lifting titles, including a gold, silver and two bronze medals at the World Special Olympics in Athens last year, was said to be "over the moon" when the news finally broke this week.
Under the watchful eye of coach Alan Elliott, who has masterminded his achievements for over a decade, Nathan has dedicated himself to a training at Cinderford's Forest Fitness Centre where he now works as a volunteer.
Mr Elliott described Nathan's selection as a "once-in-a- lifetime experience and one he will remember for the rest of his life." He said Nathan had been told he would be carrying the torch along a length of the route in Worcestershire.
"Everyone at the centre is delighted, especially as it follows hot on the heels of his latest lifting success in Scotland," said Mr Elliott.
Nathan lives in Lydney with his parents Keith and Gerry.
