IT was with some surprise and disappointment that when arriving at the central car park in Coleford this morning, three full days after the well predicted snowfall, there was not a grain of grit nor a single square foot of cleared snow in an attempt to make the park or pedestrian walkways safe.
With the council coffers topping up from the controversial car parking levies we should surely be expecting a 'service' in return for our parking fees!
I have no doubt that council wardens continue to patrol these parks, issuing contravention notices and it would be interesting to hear the reaction should one of them slip, suffer an injury and then sue the council on health and safety grounds for failing to ensure a safe working environment.
Surely we are paying now for a 'parking service'. This needs to be addressed!
