FOREST Sea Cadets saw some of the Olympic sailing finals from one of the best vantage points when they visited HMS Bulwark moored in Weymouth harbour.

The Royal Navy were providing security at the sailing site in Weymouth and, as the Sea Cadets' biggest supporter, they offered 650 Sea Cadets from all over the UK a chance to come on board.

The Forest of Dean unit were part of the lucky group of cadets visiting the site throughout the games. Cadets experienced life on a naval vessel, and got the chance to watch the Olympic sailing from an impressive vantage point.

Commanding Officer Mike Chard said: "We were thrilled to have this opportunity, it was amazing to not only be in Weymouth at this time but to see a working RN ship as well is an experience many of our cadets will cherish."

Due to a recent refurbishment of the cadet headquarters in the old youth club Naas Lane, Lydney, they are now able to take on more 10-17year old children from the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas.
