A GROUP of daredevils got in some last-minute practice for a hair-raising event.
The ‘Brake for the Border’ event involves hurtling down a steep hill in Brockweir in a home-made kart.
There was a pre-race practice session at the home of sponsors Kingstone Brewery in Tintern on Saturday.
The actual derby takes place on Saturday, September 17 with a time-trial down Mill Hill starting at the Mackenzie Hall and finishing near the Brockweir Country Inn.
There is a shorter course for junior entrants.
A spokesperson for the event said: “The first year of this hair-raising, community-powered race will use the steepest track in the UK.
“The pre-race practice on Saturday was at the home of race sponsors Kingstone Brewery.
“It was a great opportunity to see some of the contraptions built by intrepid locals willing to risk all in this high speed descent.”
