ON July 13 I was admitted to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for a total hip replacement. The procedure was carried out by Mr R.S. Majkowski and his team.

After a time in recovery I was taken to Ward 3A. The ward consisted of six beds, all occupied and by a great bunch of fellow patients.

Just to say in all my time there (I was discharged on July 17) the care and attention I received from all concerned was, in my view, faultless.

The NHS gets a lot of criticism but, up to now, none from me.

Thank you one and all.
