I AM writing to the Review in order to publicly thank the parish of Ruardean and the Pludds for the support of the efforts that the parish council has made to celebrate and commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee year.

The year is nearing its close but Ruardean parish has made great strides in encouraging community spirit. The parish joined in, celebrated and participated with enthusiasm and high spirits during our Fun Day on June 3, 2002. It was inspiring to see the young and not so young communicating and enjoying the events, despite being separated by generations in terms of age.

The parish, and especially the church, have been extremely supportive of the sun dial commemoration and all are very excited at the progress, hopefully with personal Royal assent at its conclusion.

May I take the opportunity to thank all of the parish and helpers for the support, encouragement and generosity of spirit which have made the celebrations to commemorate the Jubilee a memorable one, as well as thanking my fellow councillors for their continued support. – Vicki Meek, chair, Ruardean Parish Council.
