PARKEND School has a big problem when it comes to performing an annual Christmas play – the school hall is too small to fit an audience in!
However this year (as in four previous years) Whitemead Forest Park holiday centre has stepped in to help by providing The Venue entertainment space for free.
The pupils were this week presenting "The Innkeeper's Wife Remembers" – a miscellany from the best scenes of last year's play Santa on Strike, The Late Wise Man (2008), Pantivity (2007), and Jesus' Birthday Party (2006).
This year it was all wrapped up on Wednesday (December 15) followed by a free disco for the children which was also provided by the Park.
In 2005 the school realised it could not fit all relatives in to watch the seasonal productions and that year used the village Memorial Hall.
Whitemead Forest Park's general manager Paul Burwood said of this year's production: "We are delighted to have Parkend School here for the fifth year. It's great to be able to support the local community, especially at Christmas, and help the school to raise vital funds.
"Everyone has fond memories of their school play, and we're glad that Whitemead Forest Park is part of those memories."
This week's performances are being recorded by Blakeney Productions and DVDs will be for sale.
