I WENT to the town of Abingdon and parked at Rye Meadow, a short walk from the town.

Their system allows for up to two hours free parking at any time. All you have to do is press the "free" button and a ticket is printed confirming the time and date that you arrive.

You can also choose to pay and stay longer if you wish, paying £1.50 for up to three hours etc. This sounds like just the sort of thing that we need in the Forest as it solves the problems to do with lack of spaces, people being put off and so on.
