AFTER the headlines in last week's Review of 'Parking madness' it is time to publish the names of the exclusive cabinet responsible. Under the Freedom of Information Act the persons who ignored the three mayors and the 7,000 signatures are as follows: Patrick Molyneux, Brian Robinson, Diane Edwards, Terry Hale and Martin Quale.

Perhaps Foresters will remember when voting comes round again.

If on Monday you had the fun of walking more than a hundred yards from your car to the parking machine, then reading the instructions you would have been soaked to the skin.

Alongside is a long list of offences carrying a fine. The one interesting me was for not parking exactly between the white lines – fine £50 or half price if paid within 14 days. As a Blue Badge holder there are even less invalid bays, so parking within car parks is not possible for many people alongside transits, Land Rovers and 4x4s.

On Wednesday I drove to the back of Newerne Street into the extra parking for 86 cars. At 11am there were seven cars, plus the warden writing out a ticket for someone who had probably overstayed his welcome by 10 minutes.

Also, what about the war the council have inflicted on Queen Street residents? Surely parking overnight is not causing any inconvenience and could be free of charge. I saw many spaces here so residents have been parking elsewhere.

The whole scheme will not be a good earner, but the parking fines might be.

If it doesn't pay it will be easy to increase the charge for as much as a pound an hour.
