A MURDER probe into the death of a young mother with links to the Forest has been dropped by detectives.
Gloucestershire Police say no further action will be taken in connection with the death of Hayley Khurana after her death on February 8 in her Gloucester home.
A 26-year-old London man was arrested on suspicion of murdering the 22-year-old mum of two young daughters, who had links to Coleford.
He had been due to answer police bail this Saturday, but police said today (Wednesday, April 25) no further action will be taken and her death is no longer being treated as suspicious.
“Following extensive enquiries and a review of all the evidence, it has been decided that a 26-year-old man will face no further action in connection with the death of Hayley Khurana,” said a force spokesman.
“Our officers are now treating the death as non-suspicious and will continue working on behalf of the coroner to provide information for the inquest.
“Officers have discussed all the evidence and factors involved in this decision with Hayley’s next of kin.
“Our thoughts remain with them at what has been a very difficult time for all of Hayley’s family and friends.”
Hayley was found dead at her Hopewell Street home on the morning of February 8 after a night out in Gloucester.
In an appeal for information about her movements prior to her death, police released CCTV footage of her walking through the city centre’s Kings Square just before midnight on February 7.
Following a 999 call to the ambulance service next morning, Ms Khurana, formerly known as Hayley Kubiak, was found dead at home by paramedics shortly after 8.25am.
An inquest was opened and adjourned in February. Gloucester coroner’s officer Terry Onions said at the time: "At 8.26am last Thursday police received a call from the ambulance service informing them they were in attendance at a suspicious death.
"The police attended. They established that the deceased was Hayley Kubiak and a murder investigation was commenced.
"Dr Andrew Davison, a Home Office pathologist from Cardiff, was called and he attended to conduct a post mortem examination. He has given the cause of death as unascertained pending further investigation."
A family tribute to her said: "Hayley was only 22 years old with two beautiful little girls, she had her whole life to look forward to. Taken from us all at such a young age, words can’t describe how the family are feeling at the moment.
"Hayley will be sadly missed by her two young little girls and the rest of the family. Rest in peace, Hayley."
