POLICE are investigating claims of an attempted robbery after a man claimed he had been slashed with a knife in broad daylight on a busy town street.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident which allegedly took place in Church Road, Lydney, at lunchtime on Tuesday, April 2.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: “A man reported that he had been threatened with a knife before sustaining a cut to his arm.

“This incident was reported to have happened on Church Road at around 1pm.

“If you were in the area at the time or witnessed this taking place please call 101 with incident 190 of 2 April.”

Church Road passes the Dean Academy school, the Freedom Leisure centre and St Mary’s Church and links Lydney High Street from the town hall down to the A48.
