THE grey skies didn't dampen the spirits of the Year 11 students at Dean Academy as they attended their end of year prom.

A record-breaking crowd turned out to see the teenagers arrive dressed to impress in colourful attire at Chepstow Racecourse last week, as they said a fond farewell to staff and fellow students.

College manager, at the Lydney academy, Pauline Heuston helped organise the event, and said: "A record-breaking crowd greeted our prom-goers this year as they arrived in a range of ingenious transport types – everything from a motor bike to a fire engine. As always, we are very proud of our Year 11s and hope they enjoyed the evening as much as we did."

The prom king and queen were Bradley Strong and Ellen Harris.
