STRUTTING their stuff and setting a staggering pace at the top of the league, Harrow Hill received a wake-up call from struggling Viney. The visitors enjoyed the better of the second-half and produced an encouraging performance, indicating they could still climb out of the danger zone.
The Harrow Hill success was widely anticipated and it was perhaps complacency that led to a poor second-half performance leaving manager Andrew Reid less than impressed.
He said: "We enjoyed a great first-half, keeping possession and passing fluently. We led by two goals but played very poorly after the break. It was disappointing and there may have been some complacency but full marks to Viney for a strong fight-back."
This is Reid's first season in charge at Harrow Hill. The club's catalogue of problems has been well recorded and after the heady days of football in the Hellenic League they are now regrouping four rungs down the ladder.
"When I took over I made a few phone calls and brought in some experienced players. We have a good squad of 16 or so players and most of them have plenty of experience of playing at a higher level," he said.
Eddie Weyman (11) and Paul Manns (9) lead the goal-scoring exploits as Harrow Hill proudly top the league with 11 wins, two draws and only one defeat in 14 games.
Reid is reluctant to pick out players and says the team has performed well overall. However, he says, Clayton Hook's experience has been invaluable at the back while Eddie Weyman's pace and skills have been hugely influential.
Scorers in Saturday's game were Scott Morgan, Paul Mann and Jody Taylor.
