IT makes me smile when I see the supposed man of the people Alan Preest of UKIP claiming victory over parking charges in Forest car parks and now I see Labour getting in on the act.

Yet it is the ordinary people and businesses of Mitcheldean that have kept up a sustained, high profile vocal campaign against parking charges – often being referred to in council offices as "mischievous Mitcheldean".

So lets not get too carried away and remember who are the real champions of change, not the Johnny Come Lateleys.
