Malcolm Hart was 16 and was the youngest crew member of the Wastdale H. He died when the Wastdale H collided with the Arkendale H, drifted and exploded when they hit the Severn Rail Bridge 50 years ago.
His headstone at Gloucester Crematorium was classified as "dangerous" and laid flat because of health and safety regulations. Moves are in place to have it re-erected in the very near future.
Malcolm was a member of our little "Gang". We used to do all the crazy thing you do as a teenager. This was in the late 1950s. Our areas of play were Gloucester Park, the Cross, the docks, various youth clubs and any dances in the area.
We all came from the High Street, Howard Street, Upton Street, Tredworth area.
The year after Malcolm died I joined the Army and over the 50 years since then lost contact with all my friends.
If any of you guys, Don Weston, Laurence Stubbs, Roy Sparrow, Harry Roberts etc would like to get in touch, we could meet up, have a chat and perhaps visit our old mate's resting place.
