In response to your 'Issues about bike riders,' I thought it was only fair to provide you my view as a life-time resident and cyclist on this topic.

It's clear to me you are, in fact, 'anti-biking'.  Your views and attitudes towards Forest cyclists/ MTB'ers reminds me of the typical attitudes and abuse I regularly receive when out cycling from a small minority of walkers in particular ones with dogs. You seem to think it your and only your God-given right to be in the Forest and have little consideration for others who wish to enjoy the same outdoor delights but happen to be on bike.

Maybe if you and other walkers removed the chip off your shoulders and spent more time cleaning up your litter and the foul mess left by your dogs, then cyclists may give you equal respect.

Cycling is becoming a big success in the Forest, you only have to see the full car park at Cannop bike centre most weekends, not to mention the local revenue this generates. It is clear to see the enjoyment this bring to all ages especially families and the younger generation. At least they are exercising and not hanging out in the local town centres up to no good.

Finally, in response to your point quote 'much of the Forest wildlife feels similarly under siege'. Wow, so you speak animal language!

Maybe you should fork-lift yourself away from your desk and take a real tour of the Forest. To date the Forest is experiencing an above normal surge in tree felling – yes, I know it's a working forest. However the damage and mess this creates is surely having a more detrimental impact to the local wildlife than a few single track trails. Maybe you can go ask them. – Paul White (by email).
