THOUSANDS of local people will know this lady reading her Review ... yes, it's Mrs Margaret Gough who served tons of sweets to half the population of Cinderford and district.

For quarter of a century Mrs Gough and her late husband Charles ran the sweet shop next to the former East Dean Grammar School in Cinderford. The family business was first established in the town in 1867.

Mrs Gough is pictured enjoying her 89th birthday celebration with her great grand-daughter Joanna Allsop. And in a month of Sundays you would never guess where they are and what they are doing – they are whaling watching off the coast of Iceland!

"I wonder what my mother will want to do for her 90th birthday – but an awful lot of people are intrigued enough to want to come too," says Mrs Gough's daughter, Mrs J.J. Jakeman, of Elton, near Newnham.

Mrs Gough was joined on the trip by other members of her family. She now lives close to the home of her other daughter Bobby Lloyd-Jones at Llanymynech, Powys, but still has her Review every week –"Heaven help me if I miss an issue," says Mrs Jakeman.
