WITH a background of sightings of strange flying craft and prowling big black cats, the Forest Earth Mysteries Group has been reconvened and is planning regular meets.
The Wyedean Pagan and Wiccan Society is hosting the return of group, which will now meet on the first Thursday of each month at the Anchor Inn, Lydbrook.
The Earth Mysteries Group has been largely dormant but members have met sporadically for some years. It was originally formed in response to the growing interest in a wide variety of mysterious events and is now interested in a wide range of phenomena including unidentifiable lights in the sky, strange airborne craft and encounters with strange animals.
"The group hopes to include talks and demonstrations in forthcoming meetings," said organiser and coracle-maker Tim Oakes.
"Meetings will provide a chance for members to 'vote in' the topics that they would like covered from a list including dowsing, psychic phenomena, ancient religions, megaliths and hill forts, border wisemen and women, healing wells, and other esoteric topics."
Tim said the group is very keen to find photographic, video or audio tapes of any local phenomena, the details of which will be posted on a newly created map of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley areas, showing the locations of different events and sightings.
It is hoped that this will build up to a display that will show the frequency of sightings, and their relative locations.
All interested people are welcome at the meetings, which start at 8pm. Details from 0776 531 4223.
