I AM hoping to organise a reunion of those old scholars of St John's Church of England Primary School who started their education at that school in September 1944.
Among those who started with me at that time (the Second World War was still on!) were the following: Tony Bird, Sheila Burkett, Gwen Evans, John Fairweather, Graham Frowen, John Gwilliam, Beryl Hyde, Graham Garraway, Alan Potter, John Richards, Larry Sterrett, Maureen Thomas and Roger Williams.
I believe many of these old scholars still live in the area but some have moved away. I am hoping that news of this reunion will somehow get to them and that they will consequently contact me if they are interested.
Sadly, some of that class of 1944 are no longer with us but it may jog a few memories if I mention some of them: Christine Harris, Janet Pitt, Jim Pritchard and Ian Thomas.
The proposed event will almost certainly take place in September of this year and will probably be in the form of a lunch. The likely venue is Bells in Coleford.
Those interested in commemorating this important event in our lives can contact me on 543719, Gwen Smith on 832544 or Alan Potter on 837188.
