THE Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament found­ed by Bertrand Russell and Canon Collins has been telling us for over 50 years about the dangers of radiation and the fact that the residue cannot be buried safely and will endanger future generations.

Surely it is our shame that only after the horrendous tragedy in Japan are the majority of people waking up to this fact.

Although Britain has signed up to the Non Proliferation Treaty to eradicate nuclear weapons from the world, our Government, although claiming to be strapped for cash, are still pursuing the Trident programme.

We must put a stop to this madness.
