DANCER Sue Pitman of Chepstow has come back from major dance competitions in Blackpool and Birmingham covered in glory after recovering from a serious disc injury.
It goes hand in hand with the growing successes and popularity of the Lawrance Blatchly School of Dance, which holds several sessions a week in Offa's Mead School, Sedbury.
Partnered by Lawrance, Sue took top honours in Midlands area individual and team events in Ballroom, Latin and Old Time dance against stiff competition.
"I have only been dancing again since June after having two-and-a-half months off when a disc exploded," she said.
"I had to get back into things slowly. This year I was expecting to gain experience, not enter competitions!"
Sue has been dancing for several years but had only become really interested in the last four or so years.
Her success mirrors that of the Lawrance Blatchly classes, which in dance school medal test awards has on the last five occasions scored between 94 and a half and 99 and a half per cent.
Lawrance is justifiably proud of his school's consistently high ratings and with Sue's competition efforts, and hopes this will lead on to national acclaim.
The Offa's Mead classes are held on Mondays (beginners and intermediates), Tuesdays (7pm-8pm and 8pm-9pm line dancing), Thursdays (Advanced) and Fridays (private tuition).
