AN off-road motorbike rider who was found dead at the side of the road by a shocked cyclist has been named as a 21-year-old local man.

Harry Taylor, 21, was identified yesterday (Tuesday, November 19) as the victim of an apparent collision with a telegraph pole last week near his Redmarley home.

Bromsberrow Road was closed for six hours on Sunday, November 10, after the cyclist discovered the biker’s body on a grass verge near the entrance to a care home.

A spokesman for the Gloucestershire Coroner’s Office said yesterday: “He was found next to an off-road bike.

“It’s believed he lost control of the bike and collided with a telegraph pole. The incident is still being investigated by the police.”

Police said last week that they believed he died sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Officers investigating the fatal collision have appealed for information to help determine how it happened.

The accident was reported at about 9.50am after the cyclist came upon the dead man and his red motorbike.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said last week: “The motorbike appears to have collided with a telegraph pole near to the entrance of Pfera Hall care home.

“The motorcyclist has been identified as a local man in his 20s and his next of kin has been informed.

“It is not known what time the collision occurred, but it is believed to have been some time during the night.

“Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the man and his motorbike either on the road or in the area last night, or has any information which would help them with their investigation.”

A sign is also in place at the accident scene asking for information.

A spokesperson for the care home said first aiders went to the scene after being alerted, but could do nothing to help. No one had heard the accident, they added.

Floral tributes have been left at the scene.

One read: “In bits and things won’t ever be the same again without your helping hands. Stacks of memories together that will never be forgotten.”

A second added: “Rest in peace. Love to you and all your family. We are all thinking of you.”

Anyone who has any information about the accident is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 117 of 10 November.

The inquest was adjourned to a full hearing at 2pm on February 27 next year.
