A LYDNEY man is facing a repair bill after the front of his car butted by a wild boar.
Roy Jennings was travelling through Newland with wife Pauline, daughter Laura and her boyfriend when he saw the animal.
He said: "I wasn't going very fast so I stopped because I wasn't sure which way it was going to go.
"It was a big old animal and it was five or six metres from the car and it suddenly just ran towards the car and butted the radiator grille.
"I'm not anti-boar but this was something completely different.
"The car juddered, it was frightening – like something out of a film.
"It was about 7.30pm so I don't know if it saw the lights and decided to attack.
"I got out of the car and it was making a barking noise. After about 10 minutes it was able to get up and go back into the hedge.
"The radiator grille was dented and part of it was broken so it must have hit with some force.
"There weren't any signs of boar in the area. The verge wasn't rutted."
