LUCY Turley of Lydney could hardly believe her eyes when one of the weeds in her garden just got bigger and bigger.

Now the giant thistle is at least ten feet tall, she believes – and now it's such a talking point she can't bear to pull it up.

"It makes a change from giant sunflowers. Perhaps it's going to make history," she told the Review.

"It will be interesting to see if any of your readers can come up with something taller."
