TWO 17 year-old girls and an 18 year-old man appeared before magistrates in Gloucester on Monday accused of murdering teenager Mark Burgess as he walked home from a Christmas party.
The two girls, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and Shaun O'Donnell, of Main Road, Yorkley, are alleged to have attacked Mr Burgess as he walked home from a pub in Whitecroft in the early hours of December 21.
Mr Burgess, 19, died on Boxing Day in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol.
Appearing at a magistrates' court, the three defendants, who are also accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and theft, spoke only to confirm their details.
Malcolm Hayes, prosecuting, said that all three defendants had appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates on Boxing Day, the two girls on charges of wounding with intent, theft and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, and O'Donnell on charges of wounding with intent and theft.
Joe Maloney, defending O'Donnell, made no application for his client to be bailed and he was remanded in custody until Friday, January 3.
Clare Malvern-White and Stefan Simms, who represented the two girls, applied for bail. The request was refused and all three defendants will appear at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.
