THERE'S plenty to celebrate at John Kyrle Sixth Form after their A-level results reached the top 10 per cent nationally.

Headteacher at the Ross-based school, Nigel Griffiths was quick to deliver the good news after he received the letter from A-level Performance System (ALPS). ALPS are nationally-recognised for providing A-level, AS level and BTEC Level 3 value added reports to help inspire schools and colleges raise standards and improve student performance.

Mr Griffiths said: "ALPS have informed us that we were in the top 10 per cent nationally for A-level performance based on our best-ever 63 per cent A*-B and 100 per cent pass rate gained last summer. In the letter it was mentioned top 25 per cent and the certificate is more specific in that we are in the top 10 per cent.

"We have been invited to work with other schools hoping to improve their curriculum and results. This fits in very well with my work as a national leader of education and John Kyrle operating as a national support school.

"We are consistently graded as outstanding by Ofsted for our sixth form provision. This recognition from ALPS endorses these judgements. I am very proud of my students and staff for their very hard work and appreciative of the continued support of parents, governors and the community.

"The sixth form continues to be successful and this year we have submitted 127 university application forms which is a record (and last year a third of all upper sixth formers attending university went to elite Russell Group institutions).

"The current students very much hope they will equal or even surpass the success of last year's cohort."
