I MUST respond to the letter from Mr Eric Brown in last week's Review regarding the rejection of the referendum result by Caldicot Town Council. The rejection of the plans was by a Plaid Cymru/ Independent group.

None of Caldicot's Monmouthshire county councillors voted against the public's wishes. None of Caldicot's county councillors "fills their boots"  so that they can desert the town.

Furthermore all expenses are legitimatley claimed and agreed before settlement, all allowances are those as proscribed by the Welsh Goverment's remuneration panel.

The figures Mr Brown refers to would pale into insignificance, if the equivilent hourly rate for the assumed 20 hours work per week were applied to the true time put in fulfilling  one's duties.
