TALENTED students have brought some of the country’s favourite musicals to the school stage.
Pupils at Chepstow School are not only performing A Night at the West End – they have been involved in lighting, directing and choreographing the show.
The show includes songs from Chicago, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Rent and The Lion King.
The live music for the show, which ran last night (Tuesday) and tonight, was provided by an orchestra of students.
Producer/director Mr Rhidian Phillips said he and musical director Shanta Miller were “very proud” of the work of everyone involved.
He added: “A special mention must go to the sixth form students who have been integral in getting this show on stage: Phoebe Graham Dobrowolny, Meg Marsh and Becca Ham with their amazing choreography, Luca Goddard who directed every rehearsal and Elliott Kempton and Robbie Scudamore with their work with the orchestra.
“The cast, orchestra and everyone else in the team have been superb.
“Mr Tim Smith’s stage construction is superb and Mrs Emily Powell’s set decoration is breathtaking. “With the support of Tim Lewis, Richard Rees, Ellis Lee and Sam Gibbon on lighting and sound and Protech as our equipment suppliers it’s been a huge team effort, and this team is a team of friends, which makes this whole process very enjoyable.”
