YOUR article on the front page last week about woeful broadband and mobile phone technology was most welcome but I am not sure it will help.

We moved to the area five years ago and was told the local exchanges had been upgraded.

However if you are on a property in the wrong place you are probably on a ‘direct to exchange line’ as we are.

This means best we can get is 7mb downstream/1mb upstream which is dire in this day and age.

We also cannot get any phone signal anywhere around the property (with any vendor – I have tried them all) so we are stuck.

Fastershire are another government quango who arn’t interested.

They kept us hanging on for nearly three years with stories of EU money, government money etc and when it came down to it they said it wasn’t going to be done.

Satellite broadband is our only option and that is expensive, capped and won’t work in poor weather.

All at a time when the government say 10mb is a minimum.

We need the connection for both business (working from home) and home use. – Kevin, Bream.
