WESTBURY Young Farmers held two major fundraising events in 2008 to raise money for the Dilke Memorial Hospital and Great Oaks Hospice.

"We held our harvest supper on November 1 at Minsterworth Village Hall, packing 125 people in on the night," said a spokesman.

"The money from this was split equally between the Dilke and club funds.

"Later that week we held our bonfire night at the Red Hart in Blaisdon. It was a massive success raising £1,700. This was split equally between the Dilke and Great Oaks.

"We presented the £1,200 to The Dilke Memorial Hospital and then presented the £850 to Sheila Evans at the hospice."

The club has 60 members and meets every Monday evening, usually at Westbury Village Hall.
