LYDNEY Badgers achieved third place at the recent Bristol and West Badgers tournament.

The hockey team travelled to Winterbourne International Academy, in Bristol, where they competed in six games.

Team manager Martin Watts said: "Our players competed with various other 11-a-side teams many of which consisted of older players than ours. The Lydney Hockey Club is extremely proud of our Badgers team as they played very well. All our players, who are mainly aged under 16, devote a great deal of time to training and their dedication is a credit to them and to our coaches Sam Zala, Dave Penny and Cath Hutchinson."

Martin added: "We welcome new players and say to anyone who is interested to contact us to learn more. We are a friendly group and there is a great atmosphere throughout the club."
