NEWENT-based Charlotte Dujardin and dressage wonder horse Valegro returned from the World Equestrian Games with two individual golds and a team silver.
Valegro underlined his reputation as a true one-off as he and Charlotte took both the freestyle and grand prix special titles at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy.
The world titles in France follow team and individual gold at the London Olympics in 2012 and two individual golds at the European championships in Denmark last year.
The grand prix title was Charlotte's first individual world championship where she posted 86.120 per cent despite three mistakes – and Valegro proving he is definitely flesh and blood.
Charlotte said: "He needed to go to the toilet while I needed a piaffe (high steps with no forward, backward or sideways movement).
"Later on I tried even harder because I knew I had three big mistakes and was afraid it might have cost me the medal."
Charlotte and Valegro won the freestyle event with an overall score 92.161 per cent.
Performing to music from the film How to Train Your Dragon, her artistic merit score of 95.142 per cent.
Charlotte's three medals contributed to Britain's total haul of 13 which topped the medal table.
