WITH the new season just two games old, Ellwood Reserves have already hit the net 12 times.

Mark Wayman led the way at Lydney on Saturday with four of his side's eight goals – the week before Ellwood had a 4-3 victory over visitors Tidenham where he scored a hat-trick.

The other Ellwood goals at Lydney came from Mike Nelson, Tom Creed, Jordan Young and Ethan Wilkins.

Gavin Ransome got a consolation goal for the home side who went into the break 1-4 in arrears in their first game of the season.

Ellwood secretary Ian Edwards said: "It's been a good start for the seconds."

None of the Ellwood team played for the side last season but the players, who include some with first team experience and some who had graduated from the under-16s have knitted together well.

Mr Edwards said: "The aim is to get the seconds into the Premier and to close the gap with the firsts."

Second placed Yorkley also made it two wins from two with a 3-0 victory over Ruardean Hill Rangers.
