GOODRICH were looking comfortable on 80 without loss after 11 overs as they chased Ruardean Hill’s 157-5 – but then the home bowlers stepped up a gear.

The visitors had added just 45 runs when the last of their batsmen returned to the pavilion, leaving them 23 runs short of victory.

Hill won the toss and decided to bat first with Daniel Matthews and Jack Robins on captaincy duty as usual skipper Adam Cole was in Cardiff watching England against Pakistan.

Opening batsman Aaron Underwood was top scorer with 72 while Ashley Lilley hit 38 – with 25 of his runs coming in a single over.

Neil Price took

3-34 for Goodrich as the Forest side finished on 157-5.

Kieran Lilley and Nekmal Qadiri were the pick of the home side’s bowlers with three wickets each with Lilley claiming 3-6 from two overs while Nekmal finished with figures of 3-23 from four overs.

The win keeps Hill in second place as they travel to league leaders Parkend.
