A HAT-trick by captain James Brain helped injury-hit Worrall Hill into the second round of the Sandoe Cup.

With half a dozen players out through injury, the visitors had to make major changes – including having their goalkeeper playing in the outfield.

Worrall Hill went two goals up in the first half but Lydbrook pulled one back before the break.

Another brace in the second half with another in reply sealed the game for Worrall Hill who now travel to meet Newent Town Reserves.

Henry McAllister completed the scoring for Worrall Hill while Steven Neilson and Rasheed Onojobi were on target for Athletic.

Newent booked their place in the second round with a 4-0 victory over Longhope.

The other second round matches will see Ruardean Hill Rangers A play Mushet and Coalway United, Harrow Hill A take on Bream Amts Reserves while Milkwall face Rank Outsiders.

Ruardean United will take on the winners of the only first round match still outstanding, Westbury United Reserves or Coleford Town Reserves.

Two second round matches, which featured sides that had byes through the first round, have already taken place.

Viney Hill St Swithins Reserves beat Yorkley Reserves 7-3 and Whitecroft Reserves are through thanks to a 4-2 victory over Mitcheldean Reserves.
