Wadworth’s Gloucester North Two

Bream 137-0 Cainscross

-----

BREAM ran in 21 tries as they racked up a cricket score against Gloucester Two basement club Cainscross in front of their new sponsors.

But despite the one-sided nature of 137-0 encounter, the game also showed the spirit for which rugby is renowned.

The afternoon started with the presentation of shirts by new sponsors Drop the Mop.

The Coleford-based commercial and domestic cleaning service also supports a junior side at Berry Hill.

The visitors who had made the 90-minute journey from Stroud, were missing six players and could have cancelled but fulfilled the fixture and played with tenacity.

Bream, meanwhile, took their many chances ruthlessly but also reduced the team when Cainscross were unable to substitute.

Writing on social media, match referee Karl George said: “Good game to ref between @Bream and @Cainscross.

“Bream came out on top but fair play to Cainscross they never once gave up no matter what the score was, and well done to Bream for dropping down to the same numbers when they didn’t have to. @glos_refs.”

Bream opened the scoring in the first few minutes and regularly crossed the whitewash for the next 70-odd minutes. There were also 15 conversions.

The home side had built up a massive lead by the break but few people at the game were certain what the score was.

The rate certainly slackened in the second although a few more tries were scored.

Bream are now third in Wadworth Gloucestershire Two North.

Bream Seconds also won on Saturday, beating Tetbury 32-29 away in Gloucester and District Two.

It was their third win out of three and keeps them top of the table.
